Carlos Mugica, son of Barrio Norte — the zone of the Argentine landed oligarchy — was born in 1930 in Buenos Aires. An excellent seminarian, shortly after being ordained he became the private secretary of Cardinal Caggiano. Very soon, however, he began to concern himself with the marginalized.
